What is RockFest 2025?
RockFest 2025 is a music competition open to musicians of all ages and nationalities, featuring both digital and live performance rounds.
Who can participate in RockFest 2025?
Anyone can participate, regardless of age or nationality.
What are the different rounds of the competition?
Preliminary Rounds: Digital (Video Submission) & Physical (Live Performance)
Live Finals: Up to top 10 finalists compete in-person.
Where will RockFest 2025 take place?
Preliminary Rounds will take place on both digital and physical platforms. The top 10 finalists from the Preliminary Round will advance to the Live Finals.

Borneo Live Preliminary @ Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) [5– 6 July]
Live Finals will separate to 2 Division:
Live Finals Division One: Damansara Performing Arts Centre (DPAC) [30Aug – 1 Sept]
Live FinalsDivision Two: Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC) [5 Sept – 7 Sept]

How do I register for the competition?
Registration must be completed online via https://linktr.ee/RockFestMalaysia.
When is the registration deadline?
Live Preliminary Rounds: 1Mar-22 May 2025
Video Preliminary Round: 1Mar-15 July 2025
Due to time constraint, there will be no deadline extension.
Can I participate in more than one category?
Yes, participants may enter multiple categories and instruments.
What is the registration fee, and what does it cover?
The fee covers participation in the preliminary round, Participation Pack,and eligibility for the Live Finals if selected.

- Medal

Can I make changes to my registration after submission?
Yes, but an administrative fee of RM50 applies for corrections after submission. Changes after the closing date may not be accepted.
What happens if I enter the wrong category?
The organizer can reassign you to the correct category with an RM50 administrative fee.
What are the payment options available?
Local (cash deposit, online banking) and international (Wise, PayPal).
Are there any additional charges for late registration?
Yes, if accepted, a 50% surcharge will apply.
Can I participate in both the Digital and Physical Preliminary Rounds?
Yes, participants can participate in both rounds.
How are the finalists selected?
Finalists are chosen based on Preliminary Round performance scores, withup to top 10 advancing to the Live Finals.
How will I know if I’ve qualified for the Live Finals?
Live Preliminary Results will be released on the day itself.
Video Preliminary Results will be announced on RockFest Malaysia’s Facebook/Instagram on 9 August 2025.
What are the time limits for performances?
Solo (Open, Graded, Band): Maximum 6 minutes
Cutie Pies: Maximum 2 minutes
Note: Medleys are not permitted.
Can I use a backing track for my performance?
Yes, but it must be a minus-one track without a click.
For the Graded category, can I rearrange my piece or modify backing tracks?
No, modifying backing tracks or rearranging exam pieces is not allowed.
Can I perform with an accompanist?
Only violinists may have a piano accompanist.
Are effect pedals allowed for guitar performances?
Yes.
What platforms can I upload my video to for the Preliminary Video Round?
Facebook or YouTube (set to Public or Unlisted).
What should be included in my video description?
Participant’s name, piece name, category, and required hashtags (#rf2025#rockfestmalaysia #rockschoolasia).
Are there specific video and audio recording requirements?
Yes, the video must be clear (720p minimum) with no pre-recording oraudio mixing.
Can I edit my performance video?
No, any form of audio or video editing will lead to disqualification.
What happens if my video does not meet the submission guidelines?
The submission will be disqualified without notice.
What are the marking criteria?
Total of 100 points (Stylistic, Presentation, Quality of Performance, Musical Ability/Technique).

How will I receive my results?
Results will be posted on social media and sent via email.
Can I request feedback from the judges?
Yes, online marking reports will be provided in the preliminary round.
What awards and prizes are given to winners?
A trophy, a medal and a Winner Certificate (Gold Award,Silver Award, Bronze Award, Rock Award & Rock Award)
Will all participants receive a certificate?
Yes, all participants receive a digital Certificate of Participation.
How can I collect my certificate and participation pack?
They will be distributed during the Live Finals. Shipping is available for an extra fee.
Can I request a reprint of my certificate?
Yes, there will be a RM50 per reprint.
Will I get a refund if I withdraw from the competition?
No refunds are given after payment submission.
What should I bring on the competition day?
NRIC/Passport, instrument, and any necessary equipment.
Will there be a rehearsal before the Live Finals?
No, only a short briefing and soundcheck are provided.
Will there be a soundcheck before my performance?
Yes, setup time will be provided.
Do I (non-finalist) need to buy day pass to attend the Live Finals? How do I purchase a Day Pass?
Yes, Day Passes must be purchased for the Live Finals. The website for purchase will be announced on social media before the Live Finals dates.
